Copper Breaks State Park, Texas overflow camping

Coin-op Showers, Fresh Veggies and Texas 10.10.2015

Arrowhead State Park, Oklahoma has coin operated showers. We used all our quarters but the showers ran out too quickly. Still covered with soap and conditioner, a cold water rinse in the sink took care of the problem.

We found a farmer’s market in McAlester, Oklahoma that was three friendly older farmers selling vegetables. Since we eat tons of vegetables we bought several kinds from each of them.

Today Google sent us on tiny roads across Oklahoma through sad dying towns and past the occasional Dollar General store. It looks like the whole center of the country is losing it’s population.

Although the campground at  Copper Breaks Texas State Park looked nice, it was full so they sent us to park on the overlook. There was a lovely sunset with a view of the breaks and the reservoir. Tiny gnats flew through our screens and filled the camper but at least they didn’t bite. Those Arkansas mosquito bites were still making me crazy.
