Vernal Fall Hike, Yosemite NP

We couldn’t get the same campsite for two nights in a row, so first we moved to the site directly across from us.

Yosemite Fall is dry because of the drought so we hiked to Vernal Fall instead. We were lucky that the 600 stone stairs up the Mist Trail were dry and not slippery. We ate lunch at the Emerald Pool above the fall where a cheeky ground squirrel and Steller’s Jay came to beg.

At sunset after the hike we visited the beautiful and historic Ahwahnee Hotel. It was cold out and we were tired so we ate chili in the Hotel bar instead of going back to camp in the dark. Flexibility wins again!
