Today we went to Yosemite Valley, a first for both of us. We drove around the valley and camped at Upper Pines Campground. The ravens and ground squirrels are quite the pests here and we had to put everything that has any odor at all into the giant bear box.
I do mean everything that might smell including toothpaste, sunscreen, all food, deodorant, etc. Bears have a sensitive sense of smell and will peel open a car to get in. We dd not hear any bears tonight.
It’s much cooler at this altitude so we bundled up and slept in our heavy sleeping bags. We installed a replacement tent pole segment and carefully checked to make sure all poles were inserted all the way into the central hub.
