In the morning we discovered that Pipestem Resort State Park was overrun with deer like many other eastern parks and cities. Fortunately none stepped in front of us as we left via the narrow road. With work and family calling us back to Maryland, we headed north along WV 20 through small towns and along the southern end of the New River Gorge where we stopped to admire the view.
We took I64 across the mountains into Virginia and had had enough of driving with the big rigs so we took US 11 north instead of I81. Eventually we reached I66 and headed east to I495, the Washington DC beltway, arriving in time for rush hour traffic.
It was a great trip: sixty days on the road, every night spent in our camper, 8,325.6 miles. Our small house seemed huge and stuffy when we returned.
